In 2010 it was announced that one of my favorite bands would be touring the US. The last time the band, Level 42, had been here in the states was over 20 years ago!! Although the band has continued to tour in Europe and on their home turf in England the idea they were finally going to return across the pond was a dream come true for many long time fans.
I had the opportunity and honor to submit design ideas to the band for use on t-shirts celebrating their long awaited return. A number of fans had been asking if there would be merchandise for sale during the shows so I simply contacted the band and volunteered my services.
Level 42 30th Anniversary T-Shirt Design
I submitted 4 different design ideas to their marketing manager, they narrowed it down to 2, then narrowed that down to one final design. I was thrilled beyond belief!
The shirts, sold by the band, sold out 2 or 3 dates prior to the last show – and of course I was attending the last show and didn’t even get a shirt! I did have one at one point, but had sent it over to Mr. King so he could see them prior to the start of the tour.
But the whole experience, designing the shirt, seeing photos of fans wearing shirts at the other shows and of course seeing Mark King in the shirt and receiving a personal note from him thanking me for the design, the time and effort was simply priceless! /FANGIRL!
